  Piazza del Duomo- In the square situated a cathedral which is the third in it's size in the world and one of  

the prettiest. The Gothic cathedral is coated with white marble, and towers of bells, sculptures, turrets and carvings stick out of it. The building was begun in the year 1386 by Galeazzo Visconti and continued in the 15th and 16th centuries. The designing of the facade ended in the years 1805-9 by an order of Napoleon. The interior of the cathedral is almost completely bare. 52 support columns in the height of 148 m', separate between the central hall and the four inner parts.

In the southern arm of the hall lies the tomb of Gian Giacomo Medici.

In the crypt and in the tesoro it's possible to see holly objects made of gold and

  silver, ivory utensils from the 4th century until today.

  It is advisable to climb on the roof of the cathedral in order to see the 135 turrets, 2,245 sculptures, the central

  tower, and also a pretty observation of the square.

  The Museo del Duomo housed in the royal palace from the 18th century, Palazo Reale,  in Piazza del

  Duomo 14.

  In the museum there are sculptures, vitrage, ancient wall carpets.

  Exit the square and turn toward Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle- a sort of fancy shopping center which has a ceiling

  of glass and iron, that was built in the year 1877. In the gallery there are stores, cafes and restaurants.  

  Cross the gallery and arrive to Piazza Scala. In this square at Via Filodrammatici 2 situated

  Teatro alla Scala. The building that was built during the years 1776-1778 seems simple from outside but inside

  it  is most sumptuous. In the auditorium there are 2,000 seats, in the foyer situated 4 sculptures of Italians operas writers: Verdi, Donizetti, Rossini, Bellini.

Next to the opera building at Largo Ghiringhelli 1 Piazza Scala situated the

Museo Teatrala alla Scala in which souvenirs, portraits, pictures and documents. Hours: 9.00-12.30, 13.30-17.30. Last entarance 30 minutes before closing.

  From Piazza Scala continue in the pretty Via Manzoni until number 12 in which situated

  Casa Museo Poldi Pezzoli- a museum that housed in a private house. In the house there is one of the  richest

  and most important private collections. In the collection it's possible to see precious objects made of enamel,

  jewelry, watches, bronze sculpture, paintings of important Italian artists like Botticelli, Tiepolo, Bellini  and

  more.

  Go back in Via Manzoni  and turn right to Via G. Verdi that it's continuation is Via Brera in which stores and

  galleries. Go until number 28 in which situated

  Gallery Pinacoteca di Brera. The gallery is housed in a pretty palace from the 17th century which in it's yard

  stands a sculpture of Napoleon. The gallery hosts a big collection of creations from the Lombard, Venetian and

  central Italy schools. There are also rooms with creations from the 19th and 20th centuries including foreign

  painters.

  Exit the gallery to Via Brera that changes to a colorful pedestrian street that filled with cafes, like also the

  crossing street Via Flori Chiari. Continue a little until you arrive to Piazza San Marco in which situated San

  Marco church. A Gothic-Lombard style Church. It was built in the 13th century on the foundation of an ancient

  church, and was rebuilt in the 16th century. In the church there is a black and  white fresco: The Madonna and

  the boy Jesus with John the Baptiser. It was painted by artists from Leonardo da Vinci school. The painting

  was discovered in the year 1975.

 

  From Piazza San Marco turn to Via Borgonuovo until Via Manzoni. Cross it and arrive to Via Monte Napoleone.

  This is prestigious street in which situated all the famous designers stores. It's possible to go all along the

  street and it's possible to turn to one of crossing streets and to go until you arrive to Via della Spiga. In the this

  street there are also interesting stores and restaurants. Walk until you arrive to Corso Venezia. In this street

  there are elegant stores, and in it's continuation toward left Corso Buenos Aires the stores are more demotic.

  If you decide to turn left you walk in Corso Venezia until you arrive Via Palestro. At number 16 situated

  Civica Galleria d'Arte Moderna- Housed in Villa Reale, a house from the 18th century. In the gallery it's possible

  to see creations of Italian artists that were influenced by French artists, and also impressionistic creations

  of artists like: Cézanne, Van Gogh, Manet, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec and more.

  Transportation: Metro station Porte Venezia.

 

  After strolling in the these streets go back in Corso Venezia until you arrive to the pedestrian street Vittorio

  Emanuelle- filled with stores, boutiques, and cafes.

 

  Arriving back to Piazza del Duomo. It's possible to end the tour, and it's possible to continue. A little further

  situated Piazza Mercanti in which there are several ancient palaces that in their fronts stand

  sculptures. Continue in Via Dante until you arrive to Castello Sporzesco- a big castle from the 15th century.

  The castle hosts a few civic art collections- A sculptures museum, a painting museum, a music instruments

  and an archeological museum.

  It's possible to stroll in the big park.

  Exit the castle in Via Minghetti and continue in Via G. Garducci until Corso Magenta. Turn right and go until

  arriving

  to Santa Maria delle Grazia church. The church was built in the 15th century and in the former dining room 

displayed the famous fresco of Leonardo da Vinci "Last Supper". The painting describes the dramatic moment in which Jesus hints that one of the presents would betray him.

The creation covers the whole wall and seems as a continuation of the room. it was  damaged during the years of wars, dust and soot and was restored number of times.
