most impressive square in which situated a big white statue as a memory

Colosseo- An
Amphitheater that was built by the order of Caesar
Vespasian.
It was
inaugurated in
A.D 80 .
The
3 levels structure was an arena for
combats between gladiators and wild beasts,
races and more.
Before the entrance to the colosseum notice the
Arch of Constantine
which situated in the square of the
Colosseo.

Foro Romano-
The remnants of what used to be
the religious, political and commercial center of
ancient
Rome.

the site in which Rome was founded. In this place where
Romulus
and Remus
were discovered, established the Caesar

Piazza Campidoglio- A
Square which was designed by
Michelangelo,
surrounded by palaces in which today there are
art museums. From
the square there is an observation on the
Foro
Romano.
Return to the Piazza-Venezia,
and continue in
Via Nazionle-
a street which filled with shops- toward
Piazza della
Repubblica-
in this place were
built in the years 295-306 the
Terme di Diocleziano-
the most sumptuous that were
in Rome.
There were also libraries, auditoriums of concerts, galleries, gardens
and fountains. The place flaked after
the ruin of the aqueduct
that transferred water to the place, in 538. Today situated there a
fountain-
Fontana dlla
Naiadi
and a church-Santa Maria degli Angelli
that was
designed by Michelangelo.

Via A. Depretis
and to
go a little until reaching to
Santa Maria Maggiore
church. This is one of the 4 main basilicas in Rome. It was built

the 5th century and since then had serious renovations.
In 1377 was built the highest campanile in Rome. Inside
there are impressive
mosaics and the chapels are richly decorated.

Museo Nazionale Romano -
In this museum there is a

The museum is situated in it's edge.

street. Go until you arrive to
Piazza Barberini.

Piazza della Repubblica to
Via Orlando.
On the way pass next to a big fountain from

16th century that on
top of it stands big sculpture of Moses. Immediately thereafter in the

Santa Maria della Vittoria
- a baroque style church in which situated the beautiful

chapel.

straight and arrive to
Piazza Quirinale-
In the center of the
square stands an obelisk that stood in
the past next to grave of Augustus, and
was transferred here according to the order of
the pope Pius Vl.
At this place
situated
Palazzo Quirinale.
The palace was the summer house
of the popes in the 16th-19th
centuries, and today it is the official
residence of the president
of Italy.
Every
day at 16.00 takes place
the guard replacement
ceremony, by a
parade escorts by an orchestra.
Pass
the palace and go down the steps that are attached to it, continue in
via del Danetteria
lane, turn right near
the
wall of the palace until you arrive to
via Scuderie,
continue straight, the name of the street changes to

Tritine-
until you arrive to Pallazo
Barberini.
In the past it was belong to the rich and strong Barberini family.
Today the palace hosts the
Galeria Nazionala d'Arte Antica.
There is a collection of paintings from the 12th-18th centuries and an
impressive
illustrated ceiling.

Tritone.
The fountain that was designed by Bernini
in the 17th century
describes Triton- Poseidon's - the god of the sea- son, sits inside an open
shell that is held by 4 dolphins.

fountain- the bee fontain-

delle Api, situated at the
corner of
via
Vittorio Vento.

turn left and walk

short distance until you

Fontana di
Trevi-
The
baroque style
fountain was ordered by the Pope Clement
XIII in
1762 and was designed by
Nicols Salvi. The sculpture in
the center symbolizes the ocean which is carried in a chariot that hitched
to two horses and to the two Tritons.
According
to the tradition you have to throw two coins beyond your shoulder while
your back is turned to the fountain: One in order
that the thrower will visit again in Rome, and the second in order to
carry out a wish.
